Fatima Petersen, mezzo-soprano, is currently a student at Towson University pursuing a degree in Music Education and has performed several roles at TU including Sally in A Hand of Bridge, Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte, Mrs. Nolan in The Medium, and most recently Dido in Dido and Aeneas. Most recently she performed the role of Kate in Pirates of Penzance with Young Victorian Opera Theatre. She has two other degrees in Theatre and Communications from Indiana University, Bloomington where she studied voice with Michael Belnap. Originally she was introduced to music studying violin and viola for 15 years in her hometown of Deer Isle, Maine. Recently she spent the summer in Austria at the American Institute for Musical Studies in the opera studio. She was also seen in the Broadway in Annapolis Series as a Liebeslieder in A Little Night Music and as the alto soloist for a performance of Handel's Messiah with the Frederick Chamber singers as well as for Bach's Magnificat at Roland Park Presbyterian Church where she is a chancel soloist.
